Arsenal boss was wrong not to play Lucas Torreira in the starting line up in 3-1 win over Valencia last night.
This is the viewpoint of former Gunners forward Paul Mariner, who said that it was the forwards of the team who took the team out of trouble.
“If you have got somewhat of a patched-up back three, to me you need to protect it with the best possible players that you have got on offer,” he told ESPN FC.
“And he chose to play Guendouzi, and Granit Xhaka which to me that is not going got get it done.
“You have got a guy on the bench, a fan favourite, Torreira, who puts a shift in, he is a fantastic player.
“He should have been in that side.”
Mariner also said that the situation could have been different if Valencia would have taken an early lead at the Emirates.
Arsenal will be looking to give good performance in the finals of the Europa League.
