The upcoming fixture is already hard enough, and Paul Merson has more words that should worry Reds. After seeing the Netherlands play out in the 2-3 loss to Germany, Merson had some choice words. Are they justified though?

‘I would be a little worried if I was a Liverpool fan seeing that because you cannot afford to do that against Kane. ‘It may be easy for Van Dijk all afternoon but he has to remain focused throughout, because it only takes a second for someone like Kane to punish you.’

-Paul Merson

Merson went on to heap praise on Harry Kane, narrating how he had a bad game against Montenegro and yet popped in a goal.

Implying that a mistake similar to that against Germany would complicate things for the worse at Liverpool. Before the fixture against Tottenham, the Reds are in the lead but City have the upper hand.

Any mistakes from the Liverpool defender would prove costly. He needs to make sure that there are no holes in the defence when Liverpool face Tottenham. At Liverpool, it is expected that Van Djik will do just fine. We have all seen the kind of season he has had for Liverpool.
