Pep Guardiola has just one problem since leaving Barcelona: his inability to win the Champions League. This season they went out at the hands of England’s own Spurs.
Since his Barcelona days, Pep has been at Bayern Munich, another European powerhouse. However he was unable to win the Champions League despite a world class squad comprising Ribery, Robben, et al. at his disposal.
Bayern were desperate to build on their Champions League conquest of 2013 and they hired Guardiola to succeed Jupp Heynckes. The Spaniard couldn’t win the trophy in three attempts, most notably being thwarted by Luis Enrique’s Barca.
Pep believes that Barcelona team and especially the front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar are unrivalled. He believes that’s the best squad he has faced. Guardiola still holds them as the toughest opponents he has faced so far in his career.
Now, he has a new entry to the ‘most worthy opponents’ list and the team entering the list is none other than, you guessed it, Liverpool. Guardiola is on his way to 98 points but Liverpool have made them conscious. City have been looking over their shoulders continously, despite winning their last 12 games.
“There are two that were ‘wow’.
One is the Barcelona of Luis Enrique, with Neymar, Messi and Suarez in front.
“The other is this Liverpool. I think they’re the best two sides I’ve faced. That’s why [Man City] being there, with the title in our hands, fighting against them until the end.”

If the last day has any twists, Pep has conceded a honour on this Liverpool team at just the right moment. If not, wee will come back next season and hopefully complete what began with the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.
