Manchester United needed a win against Chelsea to keep their hopes alive for the top 4. Theoretically, we might still have a chance, but looking at the fixtures of Chelsea and Arsenal and the way we are playing, the odds aren’t looking good for us.
Missing out on Champions League is obviously a big blow (assuming that we do), but maybe playing the Europa League next season could be the best possible outcome for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Why? Let us explain:
We all know that Manchester United are in a need of a complete overhaul next season. The team needs a season or two under the new gaffer to gel and buy into the new philosophy.
Playing in the Champions League wouldn’t provide us with the time and opportunity to do just that. However, playing in the Europa League does!
We can try new players, new formations, new tactics, in fact, that process can and should start right now. We have got a pool of young talent in the academy who are just waiting for an opportunity to showcase their talent, willingness and energy, something the first 11 has lacked in the recent weeks.
It seems like the manager is thinking along the same lines too after midfielders Angel Gomes, 18, Tahith Chong, 19, and James Garner, 18, were all pictured, along with defender Lee O’Connor, 18 in the training pictures. Have a look:
Even Antonio Valencia was snapped in the training photos which means that the Club Captain could be in line to make a final appearance or two!
Do you think we should give the young kids a chance against Huddersfield in the next game?
