In the past couple of years, as far as transfers are concerned, Tottenham and Liverpool have opposite trajectories. Spurs, have built a new stadium and are almost as austere as they were a decade ago.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have added big-name signings in the Klopp era in the search for silverware. Naby Keita, Fabinho and Allison are all big money signings, the last a world record for a while. When you are Pochettino you become jealous, like a child watching his neighbour get fancy toys. So this is what he said:
“If you are going to sign the player who is going to improve your team, then it is not a lot of money.”
“Because when you consider what it means to win a Champions League or a Premier League, it is cheaper to spend this type of money.”
Everything is fine in Spurs World. Liverpool though are in a league of their own.
