Pochettino: “Liverpool would have won the League in other circumstances”

Liverpool ended their last game 2-0 against Wolves. Losing just once all season, the Reds failed to lift a much awaited Premier League trophy for the 30th year counting.

Manchester City won the league with 98 points, one more than Liverpool. Most people couldn’t separate the two teams for who they thought deserved it more. Pep Guardiola obviously thought the media wants Liverpool to win the league. All the media in England couldn’t help Liverpool, as they lost by a point.

City, in all fairness, deserve their title but you could say the same about Liverpool this season. The players gave it their all, fighting to win every game. Never giving up, picking points in matches that were hard to win points.

Everyone contributed to the Liverpool cause as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane became the joint top-scorers in the division alongside Arsenal’s Aubameyang. All that remains in the season is the Champions League final against Tottenham in Madrid.

Pochettino thinks Liverpool would have won the league in other circumstances
Liverpool came so close that even Pochettino thinks in any other season, we would have won the league.

The fixture is scheduled for June 1 at Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano. Before that match, journalist keep asking both the managers about the season that has been and the upcoming match. Here’s Tottenham’s Pochettino answering a question about Liverpool’s failed title assault:

“They will be disappointed now but they made an amazing, amazing season and for sure a little bit unlucky because of the points they got.

“Today they feel disappointed for sure but tomorrow, like us, they start to think about the final.”
-Mauricio Pochettino via Football London

Liverpool were unlucky to not win the league, as they are the runners up with the highest points total in the history of the league. Salah has said he would be here next season to fight for the title with the rest of the team, so we will only get stronger.
