Tottenham reached the final of the Champions League against Liverpool but couldn’t make the final push for the trophy. Many pundits have said that the result is acceptable for Tottenham because Mauricio Pochettino has been provided so little spending in the transfer market. Big players could leave Spurs this summer.
Lucas Moura, signed from PSG is the last Spurs signing- in January 2018. The likes of Manchester City and United have spent freely in that period while Liverpool have implemented calculated spending. It was always going to be hard to win a trophy with as restricted a transfer policy as Spurs have had in the last two transfer windows.
Tottenham’s run to the final has seen even Pochettino being linked with a move away from the White Hart Lane. Real Madrid were apparently circling around him even last summer and now, he might as well take a new challenge- unless Tottenham fund him well in the market. Ambitions of the club and the manager must match for the relationship to continue.
Four Spurs stars could leave this summer unless Pochettino stays
The new Tottenham Stadium opened in April and the club should generate more and more revenue as time goes by. Former Leeds United and Manchester City right back Danny Mills has warned Spurs that despite their heroics in the Champions League, they might lose stars this summer.
“The speculation around Pochettino is a problem”

Here are the four players Danny has warned could leave Spurs:
- Harry Kane
- Dele Alli
- Christian Eriksen
- Son Heung-min
It remains to be seen how well Tottenham can back Pochettino, because without that it is very likely that Danny Mills will be proved right.
