MANCHESTER UNITED ROUNDUP
Manchester United travels to the Netherlands to take on AZ Alkmaar in the Group L of the Europa League tonight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he will be without the services of Paul Pogba, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Anthony Martial.
As per the gaffer:
“It’s after discussion with a specialist that we’ve planned that Pogba needs further treatment and rest on his ankle.
“We’ve had Anthony out and I don’t think he’ll make it.
“Luke is training but I don’t know if he’ll make it.”
Red Bull Salzburg’s 18-year-old midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai started the game against Liverpool last night and impressed with his performance on the left side of the midfield.
Dominik, who has three goals and three assists in ten appearances so far is wanted by Arsenal, however, Liverpool has ‘reportedly‘ entered the fray as well and are ready to offer £15m for the services of the Hungarian national.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard reserved special praise for Willian who scored the winner for the Blues in the 2-1 victory over Lille in the Champions League last night.
While the Chelsea fans have been demanding for the inclusion of Christian Pulisic in the lineup, the gaffer kept his faith in the Brazilian and explained his decision after the match:
“He’s been really important. He’s a top player, I want to see him happy and have a smile on his face.
“His work ethic has been brilliant. He can take people out with his speed and trickery, and he can score goals for us.
“Willian gives us experience and he’s shown in the last two games with goals on top of great work ethic and quality.”
Tottenham have reportedly offered another contract offer to the Danish star Christian Eriksen, however, the 27-year-old has rejected the advances yet again.
Eriksen’s contract at Spurs will run down in the summer of 2020 and Daniel Levy is desperate to tie him down on a new deal, but Eriksen has reportedly made up his mind to leave on a free transfer as Spurs continue to struggle with off-field problems.
