Tottenham have made no secret of their admiration for France midfielder Tanguy NDombele in the current transfer window. One rumour after another has made the Lyon player Tottenham Hotspur’s undisputed number 1 target. Up until now, the only thing standing between Spurs and NDombele was the fee on which Lyon remained adamant.
Jean-Michel Aulas wants PSG to get Tanguy NDombele
Multiple reports say that Spurs’ attempts at signing the 22 year old defensive midfielder may have hit a stone-wall after PSG emerged as new competition. Playing mostly in a defensive midfield role, NDombele doubled up for Lyon as a part-time creative force with one goal and seven assists in the French Ligue.
He also played 8 Champions League games and scored twice for Olympic Lyon at the biggest stage. Sport.fr revealed comments last month that have Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas saying he wants NDombele to stay in France, with PSG.
“If PSG agrees to align with the two or three proposals we have, and that Tanguy, who will ultimately choose his destination, agrees, obviously it would be nice if he goes to PSG.”

Tottenham have already failed at their first attempt to sign him from Lyon
Early this month Tottenham Hotspurs tabled a bid worth £40 million for the Lyon player. It was rejected because Lyon wanted the London club to meet their valuation of the rising French destroyer. It’s assumed the club will either shift Eric Dier to defence or move him out for cash if they get NDombele.
Now, it appears the Parisiens have followed up Aulas’ request with a formal offer for the player. If Tottenham want him, they may now have to fight a bidding war with PSG. It seems unlikely even with Spurs’ renewed financial prowess that the club will win this duel with the French side. The future of this saga now rests with the player himself. He has to choose between PSG and Spurs.
