Coutinho was a big loss for Liverpool when he left for Barcelona. However, Liverpool are in great spirits without him, even chasing a title.
However, there are players that can be replaced and some that can’t be. Shaka Hislop, formerly of Newcastle United and now a pundit at ESPN names such a player in the current squad.
Real Madrid have been linked in recent weeks with Sadio Mane. The Senegal international has scored 17 goals so far in the league and is in great form. Hislop says it would be almost impossible to replace him if he actually leaves for Real Madrid.
“I think Sadio Mane can be Liverpool’s most important player.
“I thought he showed that last year in the Champions League final once Mo Salah came off.
“I think Sadio Mane, both in terms of his attitude and performances, can be the player that if Liverpool are to win either of these trophies, his role is absolutely vital.”
“He has (surprised me). What Sadio Mane does well, probably better than anyone in the league, is feed off of others.
“Understand what other are doing, then take positions according to what you think they will do.
“And as a result he is hard to read, hard to pick up and finds little pockets of space.
“The strengths in his game are so hard to counter.”
