Real Madrid don’t want Eriksen as Pogba is ‘Zidane’s favourite’

Since the Champions League final that Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool, most of Spurs related discussion has been about the incomings/outgoings at the club. One player who is at the centre of this transfer storm is Christian Eriksen. Eriksen has indicated that he ‘wishes’ for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. However Real Madrid may not be as keen in a Christian Eriksen transfer, and may have other players on priority.

The player who might stop Eriksen from joining Real Madrid is Man United’s Paul Pogba. The French midfielder lost his way at United under Mourinho. The Portuguese manager went to the extent of calling Pogba a ‘virus’ before being unceremoniously sacked in December.

Real Madrid may not pursue Tottenham for Christian Eriksen’s transfer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer righted the ship for some matchweeks before the players started slumping to small teams again. The situation at Manchester United may not be salvageable for Pogba anymore and the World Champion may be looking for a way out.

Real Madrid have not made a bid for an Eriksen transfer to Madrid

Spain’s Marca report that Zidane has no interest in Christian Eriksen’s transfer to Real Madrid. He instead hopes to build the next Madrid squad around France’s Paul Pogba.

In 35 appearances Pogba has 13 goals and nine assists for United while Eriksen managed 8 goals and 12 assists in as many games for Spurs. Christian Eriksen’s transfer will also cause a merry go round at Spurs as the London club will need to replace their best attacking midfielder.

The players touted to replace Eriksen include Bruno Fernandes, Giovani Lo Celso and Ajax’s Donny Van de Beek. Van de Beek was also linked with Real Madrid but apparently, Zidane wants his man to be ready for action at arrival. Only Eriksen and Pogba can fit that mould. However, Zidane’s pursuit of Pogba may be complicated by United’s reluctance to sell their best player.

Spurs fans will hope this story is true. Once a player is unsettled, it is best to let him go because keeping him against his will can be poisonous for the dressing room.
