Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has pressured team’s first team coach Maurizio Sarri into introducing Callum Hudson Odoi and Ruben Loftus Cheek according to ESPN pundit Craig Burley.
“He had to make those changes. He had to make them,” he told ESPN FC.
“Whether it was fan pressure, whether it was media pressure – whatever. It didn’t matter.
“He was in choppy waters, there’s no doubt about it and no matter what anybody says, Chelsea and Roman Abramovich have got a short fuse.
“So he had to be showing that he’s back on an even keel and I’m afraid the old cut-and-paste midfield that he was throwing out there of Jorginho, Kovacic or Barkley and Kante just wasn’t working.”
The duo could be rested for the midweek Europa League tie against Slavia Praha as the Blues prepare for their blockbuster clash with Liverpool next week.
