“I am a big Serie A fan,” he said. “Those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one, I love Italy.
“The transfer of [Cristiano] Ronaldo, the Italian league is now coming back. Now Antonio Conte going to Inter Milan, which is really good because he is, to me, the best manager in the world.
“You know I’m not somebody who likes to talk about my personal relationship with managers, but I’m a Manchester United player.” he told Mediaset.
The Nerazzurri have reciprocated the same interest and are ready to go ‘all out’ for Lukaku in the ongoing summer transfer window.
According to multiple reports, Inter have agreed on personal terms with Lukaku but the two clubs are yet to reach to an agreement over a transfer fee.
Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello met with Inter bosses on Wednesday where the Serie A side made their latest bid of one-year-loan with an obligation to buy for €70m (£62.8m) according to Sky in Italy.
‘It was just a chat. I spoke with the director [Giuseppe Marotta] to understand the club’s intentions with the player. They will take the decisions, we can’t put a time frame on it. – Pastorello told Sky in Italy.
‘What is clear is that if Inter want the player, they will need to get a move on.
‘Inter are seriously trying to sign him, they are all out for him. Goals are not always there to be reached, but it’s a declared target. At the moment, it remains a complicated dream.’
Meanwhile, Lukaku has reported for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side pre-season camp for their upcoming friendly in Australia.
