Manchester United have reportedly suffered a blow in the pursuit of their priority transfer target Ruben Neves as the player isn’t thought to be much enthused about a possible move to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to strengthen his midfield and a host of midfielders including the Wolves star have been linked with the Red Devils since the start of the January transfer window.

One of the major reasons why Manchester United have been desperate in their pursuit of a quality player is because most of their midfield is either hit by an injury crisis (with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay sidelined), or with the lack of form (Lingard et al.).

Solskjaer is now left with no choice but to call upon the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic, who both impressed in the club’s 4-0 thumping of Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Solskjaer is aware that United need more, however, with Andreas Pereira and James Garner the other two midfielders he currently has at his disposal.

Last week, Neves was linked with a move to Old Trafford. However, Goal claim he is not very excited about the prospect of moving to Man Utd.

That means United will have to look at alternative transfer targets, with many out of reach this month.
