Of course, it sounds absurd and stupid, but transfer stories are built on that principal, and now, it seems like it has been taken up a notch after these reports claim that PSG would be willing on an exchange deal with Manchester United by offering their star player Neymar for the Frenchman Paul Pogba.
The report goes on to say that Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is unwilling to follow up on any such deal because of 2 reasons:
1: It won’t be a straight swap deal. Manchester United will be expected to cough up some cash in addition to Paul Pogba for the services of Neymar.
The world’s most expensive (£198 million) Brazilian still has a lot of value in the transfer market, and at 27 years of age, he should be entering his prime, hence the big bucks.
2: Neymar’s wages. The PSG superstar earns a massive £900,000/week salary at the French Capital which is almost double of what Alexis Sanchez earns at Manchester United.
Having Neymar at the Old Trafford on crazy wages would sure turn the heads of Marcus Rashford, David de Gea and other players who are stalling on a contract because they want parity with Sanchez’s wages.
Sensibly, the independent adds that there’s very little chance for this deal to happen even though Neymar has informed PSG that he does not want to play for the French club.
Barcelona are said to be in the front seat to re-sign the player they sold at the world record price with Philippe Coutinho expected to move the other way.
As for Manchester United, we better pay attention to the Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal and prioritize the signing of a center-back, as soon as possible.
