Man United legend Ryan Giggs suggested Daniel James to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their first potential signing it has been claimed.
United manager is lining up a major overhaul of the squad in the summer, and it appears that his ex-teammates are aiding him in the pursuit.
Solskjaer is taking a look on Stoke City defender Nathan Collins, who has a glowing recommendation from Man United’s potential first-ever director of football Darren Fletcher.
Also, Ryan Giggs has suggested Swansea and Wales winger Daniel James to the United boss.
Giggs, now Wales manager handed James his first international cap earlier in the season.
And now Giggs has suggested James to the Norwegian as a perfect solution to Red Devils’ right-wing woes.
Solskjaer seems to have taken the cue as reports suggested last week that £15m deal was agreed between both parties.
One of James’ biggest fans is Wales legend John Hartson who believes that the 21-year-old can make a long-lasting impact at Old Trafford given a chance.
“In recent years, Swansea have sold a complete team. Influential players like Lukasz Fabianski, Federico Fernandez, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wilfried Bony have all gone,” he told the Daily Mirror.
“If they are offered in excess of £20m for Daniel, then it’s difficult to turn down. It would also be hard to deny the boy the opportunity of playing for a Manchester United.
“He was very close to going to Leeds on the final day of the January transfer window for £10m. But I believe Swansea pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute because they thought, at that price, it was a steal.
“The transfer was almost over the line. I believe his parents were at Elland Road with the lad, but Swansea then told Leeds the deal was off.
“It wasn’t very nice for Daniel because he had probably pinned his hopes on joining Leeds, who then looked like they were on their way to the Premier League.
“The way things have developed could be better for both Swansea and the player. From the club’s point of view, the transfer fee will at least be doubled – while Daniel could join one of the Premier League’s top clubs.
“Ryan Giggs, the Wales manager, obviously believes in him. That was fantastic for his confidence.”
