Liverpool may not have made a major transfer move so far in this window. However, the outgoings have begun. The youth for instance, are being sent out on loans to build their skillsets further. The latest to join the Livepool loanees is Sheyi Ojo. The England U-21 player has moved to Gerrad’s rangers.
Ojo, to his credit was part of England’s world conquering U-20 side of 2017. Ever since, great things have been expected of the youngster. At 21, he’s fast approaching the make or break point in his career. The MK Dons’ youth product played in the French league last year, appearing 15 times for Stade Reims.
Sheyi Ojo will join Gerrard’s Rangers on a season long loan
Before being loaned to the French side in 2018, Ojo signed a new Liverpool deal that ties him up to the club until 2023. Now, there are rumours again of another deal being offered to the youth player. He attracted the attention of fans by scoring goals in preseason against Manchester United.
By the looks of it, with a second deal being discussed only a year after the last one, Ojo seems to find favour with Klopp and the decision to send him to Gerrard’s team only strengthens the case further. However, if he has to have a future with Liverpool, Ojo will need more minutes at Rangers than the 830 he played in France’s top tier.
Before his tenure in France, Sheyi Ojo had a fledgling Championship season at Fulham where the right winger scored four goals in 22 games. The move to Rangers’ will be his fifth loan since arriving at Anfield in 2011. After 8 years at the club, we hope he really does come good for Gerrard and hopefully for Liverpool in the future.
