Lyall Thomas was on the ‘Last Word on Spurs’ podcast and talking about Tottenham’s transfer window. Thomas revealed the main target of the club for the number 10 position- Giovani Lo Celso. Now, we will explain the reasons behind his claim and why Spurs are not really pursuing a deal for someone who could be even better than Lo Celso- Bruno Fernandes of Portugal’s Sporting.
The Sporting captain is in hot demand this summer after plundering 32 goals and 18 assists this season in 53 games. The 24 year old captains the Portuguese side but will leave should a sufficient offer be made to the club. Bruno Fernandes is also a part of the Portugal national team who won the Nations League recently.
Bruno Fernandes transfer maybe a bigger fish than Tottenham can fry
Some reports about Fernandes claim that his contract has a release clause around the £70 million mark while yet other list it higher at £88m. Regardless, that’s unheard of at Spurs and probably (rightly) out of the club’s territory. All of this comes amidst a reported bid of £62 million by Spurs, which can’t be verified at all.
Lyall Thomas also thinks that the player is attracting interest from clubs which have resources of another level as compared to Spurs and so, this is a fight the London club can’t afford to be a part of so soon after moving into their new stadium.
“There’s been no approach and there’s’ no interest in doing a deal for him as far as I know. United, City, their names have been mentioned and most of the other big clubs in Europe, so I wouldn’t get too excited about this one if I was a Tottenham fan.”

Daniel Levy is said to have sanctioned the budget for acquiring a new number 10, which is also evident in the overwhelming number of attacking midfielders being linked with the club. However, Bruno Fernandes has been mentioned only fleetingly.
