Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the club has already identified the players they want to sign in the summer.
This summer transfer window is expected to be a big one as far Manchester United are concerned with the club poised to complete big deals (incomings and outgoings).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, during his press conference ahead of the Cardiff vs Manchester United, was inquired over the plans of the upcoming transfer window and the Norwegian confirmed that the Club has identified a few players and he’s hoping we can get the deal done for at least some of our transfer targets:
“Of course it is big. There are players whose contracts have run out, some players will definitely come in, some young players will come in.
“We have worked since I came in with the club, recruitment. We have identified some players who we think will fit the squad, our squad, Let’s hope we can get some over the line.”
The gaffer has also admitted that he ain’t necessarily looking for ready-made replacements citing the examples of Rooney and Ronaldo:
“Next season, we have got to close that gap. If we manage to get to February or March (in title race) then fantastic.
“Ronaldo was never ready made, Rooney never was. Loads of players come here and then develop into the top superstars they become.”
The signing of Daniel James from Swansea City confirms the fact that Ed Woodward and co. are looking to spend the money on young and upcoming talents, instead of going big on superstars.
Whether the strategy works is something only time will tell!
