The Red Devils completed the signing of a relatively unknown Daniel James from Swansea City last month, much to the surprise of a lot of Manchester United fans.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meanwhile, had a great time at Crystal Palace last season, and was a priority signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the 21-year-old moved to the Old Trafford in the first week of July.
Solskjaer has now revealed the reasons why he opted to complete the signing of the duo ahead of other targets:
“I know this club.
“The supporters, staff, coaches and team-mates want players to get us off the edge of their seats as well.
“Both (Wan-Bissaka and James) these two have x-factors, real x-factors, and are great, humble human beings who are hard working, hungry and just at the start of their careers.
“I’m sure the fans will be delighted when they see their progress here. Now it’s up to them to take the opportunity and prove their worth.
Solskjaer understands the fact that moving to Manchester United is a big step-up from playing at a Crystal Palace or a Swansea City and the gaffer is ready to give them the time if both of them are ready to show the fight:
“Of course, we don’t expect them to set the world alight on the first day, but they are going to grow into big and very good Manchester United players.
“They’ve been great when I’ve spoken to them.
“It’s about them also coming in, being themselves and showing that they’re here to take the places of the other players, which makes a competition for the places. Then it will spur their team-mates, to be fair, to push their game.
“Obviously, Aaron has not joined us yet but Daniel has already set the marker and the standard on work-rate and attitude in training.
“Whoever you’re going to speak to later on, if you ask about him, it’s been a delight to see.”
Hopefully, both Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka can prove their worth next season and beyond. We would be counting on them!
