Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar SolsKjær, has hinted that he may pair Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial upfront for the new season.

Both strikers have been in good form during the Red Devils’ pre-season tour, and an impressed Solskjær hinted that the fans may see both of them leading United’s attacking line henceforth.

Speaking before United’s 2-1 win over fellow Premier League team, Tottenham Hotspur, Ole admitted that he expected both players to improve.

The Norwegian boss said:

“Anthony can be a world class forward.”

“I think if you followed Anthony in the last few seasons, the way he’s come back to pre-season now, and you can ask Nemanja [Matic] as well from seeing him in training, his attitude is absolutely spot on.”

“There’s been a couple of instances where you can see a new Anthony in the way that he works for the team. He has always got the quality, talent, he’s going to score goals and his work rate is improving.”

“I expect him and Marcus to be even better than last season. Anthony had a top season when he came, his first season top scorer, then he’s had a couple of seasons where he’s not hit that amount of goals and quality so I’m sure we will see a better Anthony this year.”

Martial opened the scoring in the match against Pochettino’s men, firing home from close range after being played through by Andreas Pereira.

Though Lucas Moura equalized for Tottenham, United went on to win the match, thanks to academy graduate, Angel Gomes, netting from a tight angle after a nice exchange with Juan Mata.

Following the game, Ole Gunnar Solksjær further confirmed his delight with France international, Martial, stating that has “done really well.”

“Both Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony [Martial] can play through the middle and left-hand side. Depends on how we see the opposition, and they might just be able to play together as a pair.”

“So far, both of them have done well as a pair.”

Ole expects in-demand striker, Romelu Lukaku, to leave the club before the end of the transfer window and will rely on Mason Greenwood and Alexis Sanchez as other options for the no. 9 role.
