Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on injured duo, Victor Lindelof and Tahith Chong, both of whom limped off with injuries in the International Champions Cup match against Inter Milan in United’s third pre-season match.
Lindelof was replaced with Phil Jones in the 67th minute in Singapore and the Swede went straight down into the tunnel with both sides tied at 0-0.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then went on to make a host of substitutions moments later, putting on Tahith Chong for Daniel James. However, an heavy challenge from Inter’s defender Milan Skriniar later on in the match put an end to the 19 year-old match and he was substituted off for Angel Gomes.
United boss, Solskjaer, told the press that Victor Lindelof will be assessed by Man United’s medical team on Sunday, while showing confidence that Tahith Chong will be okay ahead of the Reds’ next pre-season match against Tottenham Hotspur.
“Well, we don’t know, but they should be okay,” Ole said in an interview with MUTV after the game. “Victor, we’ll have to access him tomorrow, but Tahith will be fine. I think it’s just a knock.”
He further added that he didn’t blame Skriniar for the tackle on Chong.
The Red Devils maintain their 100% pre-season record in Singapore, dominating the Italian giants and creating a number of chances, though it was hot prospect, Mason Greenwood, who made the difference, firing home the rebound of a parried Ashley Young free-kick in the 76th minute.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer however will be hopeful that Victor Lindelof’s injury is not a serious one as the 24-year-old is the pick among United’s crop of defenders.
United play Chelsea in their first Premier League match of the season, and fans would be terrified at the thought of the team going into the match without their best center-half.
Nevertheless, Harry Maguire is still a target for the English giants, though a deal is far from being agreed with Leicester demanding in excess of €100m for their star.
