Spurs are going to have a busy summer as they seek to banish the demons of Madrid and hope to make it to another final next year. Hopefully, with Mauricio Pochettino still in charge of the team. New Spurs transfer target are emerging every day. The North Londoners have been overachieving under the manager and would try to convert hope into trophies with new signings in the summer.
Christian Eriksen seeking a new challenge and a favour from Real Madrid
Before any new signings can arrive, Daniel Levy needs to sort out the future of several Spurs players. Chief among those doubtful for next season is Christian Eriksen. On international duty with Denmark for the Euro qualifiers, the Dane has been speaking about his future in the days that have followed the Champions League defeat.
Eriksen has stated that he is seeking a new challenge, at a place that will be a step up from his current employers. Real Madrid are said to be interested in the player but are currently busy tying up deals for the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard. Eriksen says he doesn’t even know if Madrid really want him, but he does know that he needs a new challenge in his career at 27 years of age.
If he leaves, whoever is in charge of the Spurs transfer dealings will have to work extra hard to find an apt replacement.
Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso are still in Spurs transfer plans
Tottenham are looking at bolstering their midfield before the start of this season. The club has identified Lyon’s central/defensive midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The 22 year old is versatile enough to play as a central midfielder with his great dribbling and passing skills. He can also play as a defensive midfielder but tends to sometimes expose the defenders behind him playing that position. It would be right to say his attributes are more suited to a creative role from midfield.
A Tottenham Transfer for Ndombele is not yet a certainty but he is certainly one player to be excited about. Ndombele has played a total of 49 games this season for Lyon, including eight in the Champions League. So the step up to Tottenham shouldn’t be so steep.
“As I told my agents and the club, I’m not fixed yet, I have not made a decision.”

The other man being linked heavily with a Tottenham transfer this summer is Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine fills in all the attacking gaps that exist in Ndombele’s game. While Ndombele only managed 7 assists for the season (he’s more involved in the central areas), Lo Celso has 16 goals in La Liga and the Europa League this season, assisting six.
The Real Betis player is also in extreme demand. Everyone from Manchester United, City, PSG and Juventus are linked with him. He has an £88 million release clause in his contract. Tottenham have already been rejected once with their bid of £52 million. Now, they must up their offer or use Daniel Levy’s negotiation skills to get their man.
Who do you prefer? Ndombele or Giovani Lo Celso?
Tottenham will make signings this summer
Even if Tottenham’s bid for Lo Celso was rejected, the amount quoted (£52million) is a transfer record for Spurs. So there are all indications that Spurs will finally let go of the self imposed discipline in the transfer market. There are reports that say Pochettino will be given a £100 million warchest for upcoming Tottenham transfers.
