Spurs want to bolster their squad this summer after the team reached the Champions League final. If Pochettino stays, he is expected to spend heavily on reinforcing the squad with quality players. PSG are a club full of such players, so much so, that they need to sell some to stay within FFP. The biggest name on the list is that of Julian Draxler.
Just as Tottenham need some good players, PSG are in the need for selling some. Apparently, PSG will be selling as many as four big name players in this window and Spurs are after at least two of those players.
Given PSG’s need to sell, Tottenham could find themselves at the better end of a bargain. Especially since the last transfer to Tottenham was also of a PSG player- Lucas Moura in the January of 2018. The relationship between the clubs should be warm and ripe for a good round of negotiations.
Due to PSG’s abhorrent approach to the transfer market, they are under scrutiny for Financial Fair Play. If the club wants to avoid any punishments from UEFA, they need to generate revenue in proportion to the money they spend. It seems PSG want to generate this revenue by selling Julian Draxler, Nkunku, Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa.
Now Tottenham don’t have the place for all four PSG outcasts, but they do have place for a couple of them. Different publications are linking Spurs to different PSG stars. This leads even other tabloids to club them up and say Tottenham want all of those players. Such is the absurdity of silly season. However, the players said to be Spurs bound are Julian Draxler and Layvin Kurzawa.
There already are a number of players linked with Spurs and this latest round of rumours only adds to the pile. Believe it only when it’s official.
It is said that Thomas Meunier isn’t one of the players linked with Spurs, but Hey! Draxler is pretty damn good. Now let’s just see some actual signings at the new White Hart Lane for a change.
