Tottenham are bracing for a summer with a good number of signings and almost just as many departures are being discussed. Right from Kieran Trippier, who thinks his time at the club is nearing an end to Toby Alderweireld who says he’s staying put but then still has an active release clause this summer. None of those matter as much to Spurs as Christian Eriksen, who wants out.

Eriksen is a player in the prime of his career

Kieran Trippier referred to the club policy of moving on players approaching 30. So his fears of being sold by the club, especially when he has proven to be the weak link sometimes are not unfounded. Toby Alderweireld is already 30 and will only be on the wrong side of 30s from now on.

If the club do sell Christian Eriksen, it would be for a loss mainly because he only has an year on his contract and nobody wants to pay £100 million for a player with an expiring contract. Even so, at just 27 Eriksen is in the prime of his career and any player who comes in to replace him may not be as good right away.

In short, Christian Eriksen isn’t immediately replaceable.

Christian Eriksen will leave Spurs and they can’t really replace him.

Former Spurs defender Stephen Kelly thinks Eriksen is irreplaceable

Tottenham are used to selling their best. From Luka Modric to Gareth Bale, a number of top guns have left the club. The club still made a handsome profit on those transfers. Now, they are not getting compensated well enough and may never find a player of similar abilities.

“He could play in almost any team in the Premier League.”
“So he’s[Levy] going to try and get the most for him if he is to go. But how do you replace him?”

Stephen Kelly unequivocally addresses this concern by labelling Eriksen as ‘irreplaceable’.
