PSG Defender Thomas Meunier is a Red Devils fan who would love to join ‘beautiful’ Manchester United in the summer, according to reports.
Manchester United are in a need of a Right Back after the departure of Antonio Valencia. Diogo Dalot is currently our only natural option in that position if we discount Ashley Young (and we should, after his performances as a full back this season!)
Manchester United have been linked to the likes of Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka who won’t come cheap while Juventus’ Joao Cancelo has already confirmed that he would like to stay with his current club for the time being.
Thomas Meunier is another option who has been linked to us in the past. At 27-years of age, the Belgian is an experienced campaigner who has played enough games in the top competitions across Europe to be a ‘safe’ but slightly ‘underwhelming’ option for Woodward and co.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, reportedly, has big faith in Diogo Dalot and the Norwegian would prefer to sign an older and more experienced player like Meunier to provide enough time to Portuguese youngster for his development.
Meunier, meanwhile, is a self proclaimed Manchester United fan who even got into trouble at PSG last season, after he traveled to England to watch a match at the Old Trafford but arrived back late after bad weather saw his flight delayed.
The 27-year-old has had a relatively tough time under Thomas Tuchel at PSG and he was recently inquired about his future:
“At the level of rumours, I am quoted everywhere. Only beautiful clubs are named. Manchester United, Juve, Dortmund, these are just exceptional clubs.”
If Meunier’s PSG stay doesn’t go as planned, he has gone on record to say that he wants to find himself a ‘nice’ and ‘beautiful’ option.
Is Meunier the answer to our Right Back woes?
