Antonio Rudiger’s knee injury has left a massive void to fill for Maurizio Sarri who takes his Chelsea side to Frankfurt for the first leg of Europa League semifinals.

The Central defender will play no part in the remainder of the season as was confirmed by an official statement released by the club.

“Toni Rudiger successfully underwent surgery on his left knee meniscus today. He will miss the rest of this campaign and will rehab over the summer to be back early next season.”

The German was quick to reciprocate the love and support he received during these times as he took to Instagram to write:

What a pity I won’t be able to help my team during the last games of the season. But my knee surgery went well and I’m already positive again 💪🏾 Thanks for all your messages and comments. And special thanks to the efforts of Professor Mariani @villastuart and his team 🙏🏾🙏🏾 #AlwaysBelieve #Hustle #comebackstronger

With Rudiger out for the business end of the season, one would assume that Andreas Christensen would resume his deputy duties but Blues Fans have another idea.

Maurizio,Do take a look:

Fingers crossed Gary! Let’s hope your winter is over
