Manchester City has been banned by UEFA from participating in any of the European competitions for 2 seasons and The former Leeds United and Manchester City full-back Danny Mills believes it will have a huge impact on Tottenham Hotspur’s season.
When asked about how the news could affect Spurs this campaign, Mills told Football Insider:
“Mourinho knows it is all up for grabs all of a sudden.
“Maybe he was focusing on one of the cup competitions but now they might be thinking ‘Let’s get fifth! Let’s get fourth.’ Let’s really put some pressure on teams and get back into the Champions League.
“It has opened up a massive can of worms.
“And as much as Manchester City fans will be aggrieved. It appears they have broken the rules and it is alleged they have misled. That is the real problem.”
Manchester City are likely to challenge the ban in the Court of Arbitration for Sport and thus the situation still seems to be unclear about whether the qualification spot would go to the fifth-placed Premier League side.
Spurs came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in this afternoon’s Premier League clash to leapfrog Sheffield United and climb to fifth in the table.
