The Premier League is finally back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Tottenham takes on the newly promoted Aston Villa live in both team’s first competitive game of the season.

Last season’s Champions League finalists have had a great transfer window where they managed to complete the big-name signings of Giovanni Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.

Manager Mauricio Pohettino will now be hoping to close the gap with Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League and fight for the title, whilst also challenging for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have completed more than a dozen signings in this transfer window in a bid to stay at this level for another year.

TEAM NEWS

Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth will be unavailable for the first 2 fixtures after the sending off they received against Bournemouth in the last game of the Premier League campaign last season.

However, Foyth is also suffering from an ankle injury that should keep him out until the next month.

Dele Alli, meanwhile, is suffering from a hamstring injury and is set to miss out the first few weeks of the campaign, while the new signing, Ryan Sessegnon, is also out with a knock he suffered with the England U-21.

Ben Davies, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier are working towards full fitness with the latter two returning to the training, however, Serge Aurier could be a doubt with his hand injury.

PREDICTION

Tottenham have made some much-needed signings in this transfer window, but the London club still doesn’t have a fully fit squad to chose from.

However, Pochettino and co. should have enough in them to get past Aston Villa. We predict a 2-0 win for the hosts with Harry Kane breaking his August curse.
