Manchester United are ready to outprice arch-rivals Manchester City for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes it has been claimed.

The Red Devils have previously snatched Alexis Sanchez and Fred out of City’s grasps but both of them have flopped, unfortunately.

But, it looks like Ed Woodward is ready to take that risk the third time around.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola United are ready to outprice Man City between a whopping margin of €15m (£13.3m) and €25m (£22.2m) for Fernandes.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola’s side is ready to shell €55m (£48.4m) whilst United are readying a €70m (£62.1m) or €80m (£71m) bid.

The Portuguese has been a revelation in the Primeira Liga this season scoring 32 goals and providing 18 assists.

He was also instrumental in Sporting’s success in the Taça de Portugal and has recently opened up about the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

“I always said that I came back to Sporting because they have ambitions like the ones I have,” Fernandes told Diario de Noticias.

“I said that I would leave Sporting once my ambitions were greater than those of the club, but they are not at the moment. The ambition to be national champion is still here and so I have no reason to leave.

“Obviously if an irrefutable proposal for me arrives, and it’s good for the club, let’s get together and decide together.

“I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a very early age I have a dream of playing in England, where you can live pure football without big controversy, without big cases.

“Now, any of the other leagues, Germany, Spain and Italy are also very good and ambitious.

“But as I said I’m good at Sporting and now I’m focused on the cup.

“Then I want to make a good pre-season and if anything comes up I’m available to do what is best for the club.”
