When you are the goalkeeper for Watford, you mostly only have the Premier League fixtures to worry about. There are very rarely any cup games by this time of the year. That is exactly why you would be approached to give a verdict on which one of your compatriots is better. A hard job to do but when your are a 38 year old veteran you have an informed opinion.

That is where Heurelho Gomes comes in, talking about both the Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Ederson of Manchester City. The two goalkeepers are among the best in the League at the minute. The Liverpool shot stopper has 17 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.

Ederson on the other hand has 30 appearances for the season and 14 clean sheets to tout. Here’s exactly what Gomes thinks about the two, and its not even close:

“Alisson is a very good shot-stopper but he can also play very well with his feet which is important for the way Liverpool play. I believe he is a complete goalkeeper, that’s why he is playing for Liverpool. [Alisson and Ederson] are both similar, to be honest, they are both similar players. At the moment Alisson [is better] because I believe he’s more complete than Ederson.
