According to reports, Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has been linked with a free transfer to Newcastle United.
The English international’s contract at the North London outfit is coming to an end in June and give his current injury status; it’s unlikely that he will be making an appearance till the end of the season.
However, the 27-year-old could be full of offers very soon in the coming weeks.
According to the Chronicle, the Magpies are set to be offered Welbeck in the summer and could face competition from La Liga outfit and Europa League semi-finalists Valencia for his signature.
Last month, Unai Emery had given a positive update regarding his injury status and hadn’t ruled out the possibility of the forward extending his stay at the Emirates.
“He’s progressing very well, and he’s working and starting to touch the ball, working on the pitch,” Emery said. “His progress with a big injury is going very well.
“It’s difficult [for him] to play matches in this season but now he’s progressing very well, and maybe the doctor says he can train or play with us in the last weeks of the season.
“His individual [contract] is to [be decided] with the club.”
